Betta making bubbles; what does it suggest?
Can
betta fish live in tap water without conditioner?
No, they can not. Because tap water has some chemicals and other components, it
is dangerous for the betta. Also, there are so many types of tap water, and
each one has a different amount of pH level in it.
That is why professionals say to inspect, analyze or
test the pH level before putting your fish in a tank full of tap water. Also,
the pH group has to be equal or slightly equal to 7 to be perfectly suitable
for the betta.
Bubbles
From time to time, many of us owners, even if we go
to a pet or betta store to buy siamese fighting fish, have seen that the betta
is making clusters of bubbles. Those bubbles are called nests; this is normal
behavior from a fish, and nothing is wrong or bad with doing it.
These bubbles are more like indicators, showing
betta is healthy and happy. Betta makes these bubbles only when they are so
glad they live. Male bettas have this tendency to fight and be aggressive.
Male bettas are known for their prone to fighting,
but they also make these nests which in reality is the sign of making love
instead of war.
Also, the other sign, which indicates from male
bettas making nests that they are in love or, in other words, thinking about
raising baby bettas in his mind.
While if the fish has never made these nests,
especially male bettas, then there is something wrong with them related to
psychological damage. This is why they are not able to give or build peace.
Male bettas
When male fish live in the wild, they make small
clusters of bubbles from time to time, which float underneath the water and
perhaps make the proper nests. Male bettas making nests is all about breeding
and after the breeding process. They are getting ready to breed and thinking of
raising their babies.
Breeding
Soon after they are done mating, the female betta
will lay down the eggs, and the male betta will guard the nests. When the
female fish lays down the eggs, the male beta will carefully capture the eggs
in his mouth and very slowly and carefully place those eggs into the bubble
nest he just made.
Also, this is how we see those bubbles, but those
fish sees her as a signal that somewhere, a young male betta is fertile and
ready to take the role of a father.
During the mating and spawning phase, the male betta
will cover himself around the female betta and squeeze, and she releases those
eggs.
Eggs in the bubble
nest
You must be wondering why male fighting
fish for sale places those eggs into
the nest. It is because the water is sometimes dirty, shallow, and even not
much oxygen left.
Placing eggs in the bubble nest will secure them by
being moist and in oxygen. Also, those bubble nests have very high levels of
rich air.
This is also why bettas make those bubble nests;
they look for the future.
